Outdoor Dining Season
Outdoor dining season is here! Sure, the photo below represents the most aspirational take but let this be your motivation for the upcoming al fresco season. Whether you're relaxing in a cozy city garden with a quaint dining nook or lounging in a country garden with a charming pergola or porch, there are few things that scream spring more than eating outdoors. Let’s bring this party from inside to out!
If your’e like me, over the past few years, your gardens have become more than just patches of greenery. They're like our second living/dining rooms, where we grow plants, food and reset our brains and body through relaxation, meditation, great conversation and yes, amazing meals.
Now, when it comes to crafting the perfect outdoor dining spot, there are loads of fun approaches to consider. I’ve gathered up a few essentials to consider as you dial in your outdoor space and get ready for the outdoor dining season.
First up are some madre picnic napkins. Beautiful to the touch and eye, they’re an essential for any organic garden party. Muted tones go a long way.
From there we add a seagrass pitcher. Nothing screams barefoot cocktails more than these beauties. Although directional you’ll be surprised at how versatile they are in a variety of settings.
Those yummy cocktails you made in your seagrass pitcher aren’t going to drink themselves. But the first step is a cute little vessel. Enter these cute and colorful old-fashioned glasses. Feel free to get loose as they’re shatterproof.
Your seasonal fruit that every garden party needs will need a friend to hold them. Enter this handmade berry bowl by Rachael Pots. I love these for all things berry. You can go straight from a rinse to onto the table. Easy to wash and always a crowd pleaser paired with your favorite seasonal fruit.
Last but not least is probably the most essential tool for any garden party involving food—collapsible woven food tents. Is there anything worse then setting up your spread only to your neighborhood bugs fly on over. This is a great way to protect your food until you’re ready to dig in.
So, who's up for turning their outdoor space into the ultimate outdoor dining spot? Cheers friends!
Reusable Food Wraps For The Win
Reusable food wraps are the bees knees. There i said it. This is a product that i use on the regular. It’s a simple product that provides an abundance of cool benefits. So here’s my breakdown on how i use them and why.
But first, what exactly are these things? These wraps are made of organic cotton, bees wax and jojoba oil. They’ll feel like wax paper in your hands. You warm them up with your hands, making them somewhat moldable to whatever your wrapping. Once they cool down, they become stiff creating a nice little barrier for your precious treats. Once you’re done using them, you just simply wash them off with some soap and water and let them air dry.
So why reusable wraps? We’re all trying to do our part to limit our footprint right? Using these reusable food wraps does just that. Instead of using plastic bags, tinfoil or plastic wrap, you can use these cute wraps to serve the same purpose—protecting your food and snacks until you’re ready to eat. If you’re constantly using throwaway materials this is for you. Some of the best green lifestyle changes can also save you money in the long run. And what’s better than that.
So how am i using mine? I mostly find myself using them for sandwiches that i pack for my family. While not based on a scientific study, i swear i makes my sandwiches taste better. Would you rather pull your sandwich out of a plastic bag/wrapper of would you like to pull it out of a cute little reusable wrap? I’ll also find myself using it for cheese, fruit and anything else that needs a little protection while moving around.
So there you go. Here’s where you can buy your own reusable food wraps and even pick up a set for friend. They make a great gift! Happy snacking.
I’m Bloggin’ Baby
I used to blog. Then i stopped. But now i’m starting again. So why?
I used to blog. Then i stopped. But now i’m starting again. So why?
Years ago when i was blogging i found it fun, challenging and inspirational. I was also living in San Francisco so inspiration was at the ready. My family moved a few times since then, which contributed to me shuttering my blog.
Another contributing factor to letting go of my blog was the rise of social. Blogs just didn’t seem as important as they once were. But when i reflect back upon those years i realize i still appreciated a well-curated blog. Fast-forward a handful of years and here i am again, ready to contribute to the creative community once again through good ol’ blogging.
So what am i gonna talk about? Hmm, probably all good things related to design. Primarily interior design but i’m sure i’ll stray into home goods, fashion and design in general. Who knows but stay tuned. Have opinions, will travel.
